Wirral Live 2017 consisted of 3 days of live music at Prenton Park (home of Tranmere Rovers FC) over the weekend of May 19-21 and included a line up of Madness, The Libertines and Little Mix, among others.

We attended on Saturday May 20 to see one of our favourite bands, The Libertines. The Libs were supported by Reverend & The Makers and The Coral, as well as an impromptu speech from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn!

Reverend & The Makers were up first, playing tracks such as Shine The Light, and their big hit Heavyweight Champion Of The World. Rumours had been circulating all day on social media that Jeremy Corbyn was in the area and was set to take to the stage. That he done before The Coral played, you can check some of his excellent and well received speech here below, including large repeated chants from the crowd of “OHHH Jeremy Corybn.”

With the crowd well and truly enthused from Jeremy’s speech, the beer was flowing and everyone was in great spirits. Next on were local band The Coral, playing some of their much loved hits, including Jacqueline, In The Morning and Dreaming Of You, which was potentially the track of the day in terms of crowd response.

Headliners The Libertines were last on. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing the lads rock it on various occasions over the last few years, and tonight they were bang on form again. Playing a mixture of their newer stuff and older crowd pleasing classics, Pete, Carl and the boys put on a top performance to send the thousands home into the night happy.
