We’ve been to some brilliant gigs in 2019, here’s a rundown of our 19 favourites…
19. Solomun +1 @ Pacha (Ibiza, July 2019)
Solomun + 1 is now officially the longest running residency at Pacha after the famous Flower Power night. Pacha is a club that has embraced change in Ibiza, and as well as mixing up some of their residencies, over the past year or 2, they have freshened up the interior of the club too with creative decor and immersive light and visuals. We headed to Pacha on June 23 to catch Solomun’s set (DJ Seinfeld was his chosen Plus 1 this week, and done a brilliant job in setting the tone for Solomun), which was full of lovely melodies and uplifting grooves. His set was full of energy, a driving, progressive and tribal sound which had the packed out crowd going wild.

18. ONE NIGHT STAND @ DC10 (Ibiza, July 2019)
Game Over’s One Night Stand returned to DC10 on July 12 for the first of 3 parties this summer. One of the most talked about and exciting new parties in Ibiza has returned to DC10 for 2019 for some unbelievably good vibes and a raw sense of energy. We headed to DC10 to catch the first of the parties, headlined by the main man, Carl Cox. Coxy played both an early outside garden set, before ending the night in style on the Terrace. Both sets he rocked with plenty of energy, dipping in between house, techno, the odd classic and everything else in between!

17. Cirque de la Nuit Ibiza Boat Party (Ibiza, June 2019)
We headed aboard the Cirque de la Nuit boat party in June. For the first hour all was calm and everyone on their best behaviour. As time passes and drinks flow it starts to get a little crazy and with a sound system like VOID then it’s only normal for people to want to dance! The mixture of music included new and old classic house and techno hits – Cola by CamelPhat and Elderbrook went down well as did Rhythm Is a Dancer by SNAP! Champagne was being sprayed everywhere as people danced under the sun having the time of their lives! Half way through the party it was time for the swim stop and for everyone to gather their bearings. The boat stopped in a nice quiet tranquil part of the island and some did get off for a swim. Yummy Oreo cupcakes got passed around for us to refuel for the second half of the party. It was a little rocky on the way back but this added to the fun of it. Remixes of Micheal Jackson Billy Jean had everyone signing and dancing. As we approached land it was time to say goodbye to our new found friends.

16. BBC Radio 1 Ibiza Weekend 2019 (Ibiza, August 2019)
Traditionally the biggest weekend of the Ibiza season, the BBC Radio 1 crew were back in town on the first weekend in August for their now 24th edition of the Ibiza BBC Radio 1 Weekend. On Friday 2nd August, they kicked things off at Ibiza Rocks hotel, live on air for Annie Mac’s show 7-11pm (UK broadcast time). We arrived around 10pm when the party was well and truly rocking as Annie Mac went back to back with Kölsch. Kölsch kicked off their set by dropping Grey, arguably one of the biggest Ibiza tracks of the last few years. Queue massive scenes! Expect big celebrations next year for their 25th anniversary.

15. Underworld Live @ Warehouse Project (Manchester, December 2019)
A cold early December evening, and we’re in Manchester to head to the new Warehouse Project venue to check out Underworld’s new live show. After a pint and bratwurst at Manchester’s brilliant Christmas markets, we made our way to Depot at Mayfield, a disused railway depot abandoned since 1960, which has been transformed into a one of a kind multi-facetted venue. Our first impression of the venue was the surprise at the sheer size of the place, it’s massive and vast, perfect for Underworld, who performed a brilliant gig, with incredible energy on stage. The crowd loved it and lapped up every track, the highlights being Rez, Cowgirl, King Of Snake, and, of course, Born Slippy. Regularly bringing the hottest acts in electronic music to Manchester to brighten up those dark and cold nights throughout the autumn and winter, Warehouse Project have this year brought some of the biggest events and DJs in the world. Long may it continue!

14. Printworks Review – Stephan Bodzin Curates (London, May 2019)
Easter Bank Holiday Weekend 2019 – the hottest on record, and the whole of the UK were in great spirits. We were London bound to visit Printworks for the first time. A brilliantly constructed line up for fans of melodic techno (Stephan Bodzin in the main Press Hall room & and Christian Löffler in the back Dark room), both playing fantastic sets, this event and venue certainly didn’t disappoint. A brilliantly run warehouse club with fantastic line ups, great sound, visuals, security, staff and loads of bars.

13. DANCE OR DIE opening party @ Ushuaïa (Ibiza, June 2019)
DANCE OR DIE – a new event at Ushuaïa headed by Nic Fanciulli is a neon-playground production, complete with lights, lasers and a stage set second to none. One the opening night in June Carl Cox and Fanciulli played back to back to end the night, showing a synergy and partnership that has grown through friendship for many a year. The DANCE OR DIE opening party was one of the best opening parties we’ve been to in Ibiza in years.

12. Above & Beyond & Armin Van Buuren at Ushuaïa (Ibiza, July 2019)
On Friday 12 July, on a very hot peak summer evening, we headed from San Antonio over to playa d’en Bossa just in time for Above & Beyond’s 7pm start set time. It was one of the few occasions we’ve been in Ushuaïa before the sun has set, and looking around the venue in daylight, it is clear to see what a beautiful setting and hotel it truly is. Above & Beyond’s 2 hour set built well, the first hour of which was a more chilled Anjunadeep type vibe, brilliant deep house, combined with some lush vocals and melodies. The second half of their set, they picked up the pace, with some faster trance, and more driving energetic Anjunabeats tracks. Afterwards, Armin Van Buuren took over, and with the Ushuaïa crowd well and truly ready for some big tracks, Armin provided! His set was a fast paced EDM style trance set.

11. Resistance at Privilege 2019 Closing Party (Ibiza, September 2019)
The closing of Resistance at Privilege went out with a bang! We arrived at the world’s largest club around 1am and headed straight for the main room where Sasha and John Digweed started the night just perfectly, before Adam Bayer and Carl Cox finished the night in style. Over in the Vista Club Italian DJ and producer Deborah De Luca was laying it down as the whole room danced to her hard techno. Overall the first closing of the season was a success! The world’s largest club was packed from start to finish and everyone was in high spirits! Different genres of electronic music were selected which makes Resistance a party that has something for everyone!

10. N’To @ Eden (IDOL) (Ibiza, July 2019)
French producer N’To’s sound is one of beautiful melodic techno, and he is one of the best producers we’ve heard in recent times. Playing at Eden alongside his Hungry Music label mates, N’To played a set of his own productions and remixes, interacting with the crowd, and looked like he was having the time of his life in the DJ booth, the highlight being when he dropped his track Carrousel, a brilliant melodic and progressive builder, which really went off with the crowd.

9. Elrow @ Row14 (Barcelona, July 2019)
One of the big highlights of our summer for the past few years has been attending Elrow Barcelona during Sónar weekend. Elrow’s original home is quite simply one of the best venue’s we’ve ever visited, and is as close to anywhere you’ll find that has that Space Ibiza terrace vibe from yesteryear, with it’s own brilliant and bonkers personality thrown in for good measure. So we were delighted to again be checking out the party before our flight back to the island on the Sunday of Sónar weekend. We arrived at peak time, around 5pm, with the party in full swing. It was busy with people dressed in their most colourful outfits, all up for the party with a smile on their face. It was a great atmosphere. Brilliant production, visuals, artwork, confetti, colours, performers and DJs – Elrow at Row 14 during Sónar weekend is a must on any clubber’s summer diary! See you again next year.

8. Kendal Calling 2019 (Kendal, July 2019)
On Saturday 27th July, we headed to Kendal Calling festival, based in Cumbria’s beautiful Lake District, at Lowther Deer Park. Arriving on Saturday afternoon, we pitched our tent, and then headed into the site. The weather was typically British summer time (rain, rain and more rain!) but we made the most of it, donned our waterproofs and trudged our way through the mud to see Manic Street Preachers. Their set was brilliant, playing some of their well known classic tracks such as “If You Tolerate This”, “A Design For Life”, and “Tsunami”, among various others. After grabbing some food (there’s lots of different food options on site), and some beers from the real ale bar, we headed into the night, and danced away to some brilliant house and techno in the Glow tent, which was rammed to the sounds of former Space Ibiza resident Paul Woolford. We had a brilliant time at Kendal Calling 2019 at the various music stages and tents, arts installations, comedy, gourmet food and real ale bars in one of the most beautiful festival sites in the UK.

7. Elrow Town Festival 2019 (UK, August 2019)
On Saturday 17th August, we found ourselves at the wonderful world of Elrow Town Festival in London. The venue and setting were beautiful, and on a warm August summer’s day, we headed into the festival to explore everything Elrow Town had to offer. We’re big fans of the Elrow party here at Uneek Ibiza, having awarded their Barcelona party our event of the year the last 2 years running. Their parties are full of madness, crazy characters and costumes, colour, confetti and fun. There was all of this and more at Elrow Town festival, including 9 musical stages/arenas, and all of the usual things you might find in a town – a fire station, jail, school and factory! Aside from the main stage, we headed to el Bowsque Encantado, the biggest of the tents – where we caught Michael Bibi’s set, as well as smaller stages/areas such as Rowlympic Games, The Fire Station, Absolut Pink Cathedral, Arc de Rowomf, Wunderground Rescue, The Jail and Rowxford Academy.

6. Cocoon closing party @ Amnesia (Ibiza, October 2019)
We hopped on the 2:30am DiscoBus from San Antonio to make the short journey to San Rafael for Cocoon’s closing fiesta at Amnesia. Now in its 20th year on the island, Cocoon is the original Ibiza techno night. It’s been quite a journey, from four one off parties in 1999 to becoming one of the biggest nights the island has ever seen. Peggy Gou is one of the hottest acts on the planet at the moment. Peggy’s set is full of bangers, like her own Starry Night, Laurent Garnier’s Feel Good and Schatrax’s Humbug. Her sound is summery, tropical and sexy. At 4am, Cocoon head honcho Sven Väth takes over the controls on the terrace. He ups the ante, moving into peak time Techno territory. The energy in the room becomes more intense. Cocoon’s motto for the summer is Dancin since ’99. It’s easy to see why they have retained longevity on an island that evolves and changes constantly. Their focus has always been on purveying quality underground music. They don’t care about VIP culture. They love the music. Which is why we love Cocoon. Long may it continue.

5. Ushuaïa Closing party (Ibiza, October 2019)
Summer 2019 was certainly a busy and successful season for Ibiza’s biggest open air venue. Each summer Ushuaïa up their game in terms of amazing production, visuals and line ups. Add to this massive crowds of people generating a great atmosphere, the warm Ibiza sun beating down, and planes flying in overhead to the nearby airport, and you have the best outside clubbing experience in the world. Ushuaïa’s theme for their 2019 closing party was #nogoodbye – in any case, it was only a short goodbye, with their 2020 opening party a few months away in May, which is something to look forward to during these winter months!

4. Afterlife opening party at Hï Ibiza (Ibiza, June 2019)
Italian techno duo Tale Of Us’s Afterlife had brilliant forward-thinking line ups this season at Hï Ibiza. We headed to the opening party in June, a fantastic opening party with sets from Tale Of Us, Maceo Plex, and Stephan Bodzin, who played a brilliant live set of his own productions, driving and melodic techno in his own unique style. Afterlife is one of our favourite Ibiza events.

3. Paradise @ DC10 (Ibiza, July 2019)
On a hot July summer’s night, we headed to DC10 to check out Jamie Jones’ Paradise party. Considered one of the best parties on the island, we were impressed by the production, lighting, sound system, and most importantly, the brilliant air conditioning in the club! A highlight was Alan Fitzpatrick dropping Ibiza classic ‘Salsoul Nugget, whilst Jamie Jones finished the night, sending the crowd home with big smiles on their faces at 7am, as the sun was coming up. As the sun was rising through the windows of the Terrace as he finished his set, it was a truly special Ibiza moment.

2. Innervisions at OFFSónar (Barcelona, July 2019)
In July, we took the short plane ride from Ibiza to Barcelona for the night to attend the Innervisions party on day 3 (Saturday) of OFFSónar at the beautiful Poble Espanyol. Dixon and Âme kept the music up tempo as everyone moved to the music. The crowd was on fire as the set got better and better – the music was very futuristic crossing between techno, deep house, uplifting house and Arabic music. The atmosphere was electric and we already can not wait for next year!

1. ANTS Metropolis @ Ushuaïa Ibiza (Ibiza, June 2019)
Ushuaïa’s flagship Saturday event ANTS has gone from strength to strength in recent years. One of our favourite events on the island is back for its 7th season, and summer 2019 sees ANTS Metropolis transforming Ushuaïa Ibiza into a bustling underground city, with the ANTS colony as a society, hard at work in today’s modern world. We attended on Saturday June 15 with a line up that included Dublin, Matthias Tanzmann, CamelPhat and Kölsch, the latter ending the night in fine style. Playing a set included lots of new tracks, some classics, one of his biggest tracks “Grey”, and ending on Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, which had the whole club singing along. We had a great night, and with a stage set up to rival any festival, complete with fireworks, confetti, air cannons, airplanes flying in overhead, and plenty of energy for good measure. ANTS @ Ushuaïa takes first place in our gigs of the year 2019.
