We’ve been to and reviewed some absolutely brilliant gigs in 2017. Here below are our favourite 17 from the year…
17. Cuckoo Land @ Ibiza Rocks Hotel, Ibiza – June 2017
If you like tech house, against the back drop of some brilliant, cool and funky colourful paraphernalia, then Sundays in Ibiza in 2017 were about Cuckoo Land at Ibiza Rocks hotel!

16. Resistance @ Privilege, Ibiza – September 2017
A strong crowd with a production being second to none, and vibrant red lasers beaming, Resistance was one of Privilege’s biggest nights through summer 2017.

15. Chemical Brothers @ Warehouse Project, Manchester – December 2017
The Chems rocked Manchester’s Warehouse Project on a cold December pre Christmas evening. A DJ set full of techno ended on one of their biggest tracks “Star Guitar”.

14. The Happy Mondays @ Liverpool Olympia – December 2017
The whole performance was top drawer and from start to finish – there was huge energy, enthusiasm, humour and raw Mondays uniqueness. We came away feeling completely satisfied that the Happy Mondays had provided a more than Happy Friday night out!

13. Wirral Live @ Prenton Park, Tranmere – May 2017
Wirral Live 2017 consisted of 3 days of live music at Prenton Park (home of Tranmere Rovers FC) over the weekend of May 19-21 and included a line up of Madness, The Libertines and Little Mix, among others. We attended on Saturday May 20 to see one of our favourite bands, The Libertines. The Libs were supported by Reverend & The Makers and The Coral, as well as an impromptu speech from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn!

12. Ants Opening Party @ Ushuaïa, Ibiza – June 2017
It’s a big hit with island workers and techno lovers alike. Ushuaia’s only underground event was packed out each and every week and 2017’s opening party was no different. Ants’ brilliant PR, alongside their excellent music policy and great DJ bookings at one of the best venues in the world makes it a clubber’s dream.

11. Eric Prydz opening party @ Hï Ibiza, Ibiza – June 2017
Eric Prydz’ first Ibiza residency undoubtedly delivered. We attended his opening party and the energy in the room at Hï Ibiza was intense! More of the same next year please!

10. The Libertines @ Warrington Parr Hall – September 2017
The Libertines were back in the North West in late September as part of their ‘Tiddeley Om Pom Pom Tour’ visiting 7 different seaside towns. A late change of venue (issues with the Blackpool venue of the tour) was decided as Warrington’s iconic and intimate venue, Parr Hall. The tickets sold out within 3 minutes 1 week prior to the gig, proving that The Libertines are still one of the most in demand bands in the country. The Libs finished on some of their biggest anthems, the crowd bouncing to each and every one; Music When The Lights Go Out, Up The Bracket
and Don’t Look Back Into The Sun, followed by an impromptu version of The Stones Roses – I Wanna Be Adored.
What a brilliant gig!

9. AMP Lost And Found – Malta, April 2017
We headed over to beautiful Malta for Annie Mac’s Lost And Festival on Easter weekend in April. A highlight of the weekend was listening to Eats Everything play his set and the festival goers were like an army at worship to their generals, waving flags and singing along to the beats. The sun shone bright and the breeze blew around the castle as the air was filled with much love and happiness.

8. Creamfields @ Daresbury – August 2017
Creamfields 2017 was an awesome weekend of music, DJs, massive cinematic visual screens, lasers, lights, confetti, fire and smoke cannons, with a crowd of tens of thousands providing a fantastic atmosphere. See you at Creamfields same time and same place next year!

7. Cream Classical @ Steelyard, Liverpool – November 2017
Liverpool’s famous Docklands had another addition in November – the Steel Yard! Cream’s impressive 20,000 capacity superstructure which was designed and created exclusively for Creamfields in 2016/7 is the largest of its kind in Europe and was erected on Stanley Dock in Liverpool for 3 nights in November – Armin van Buuren on Nov 18, Martin Garrix on Nov 25, and on Nov 24, Cream Classical. Cream’s 50 piece Philharmonic Orchestra performed some of the classic Cream tracks of yesteryear, which included the likes of K Klass – Let Me Show You, Alison Limerick – Where Love Lives, The Bucketheads – The Bomb [These Sounds Fall Into My Mind] and Felix – Don’t You Want My Love.

6. Cirque de la Nuit boat party, Ibiza – May 2017
So the boat that rocked then? Yes indeed, and boy did it rock! Darius Syrossian of Do Not Sleep and Cuckoo Land residencies was the guest DJ, alongside resident Ryan Platts. The music was spot on, the guys on board treat you brilliantly, and it’s free booze – you’re never without a drink in your hand! Combine that with a great happy smiling crowd and awesome music and you have the recipe for an excellent boat party. We’ve been on some boat parties in Ibiza, but we can safely say that Cirque de la Nuit is the best of the lot.

4. Sónar Barcelona – June 2017
On Friday 16th June we headed over to Barcelona for one of the biggest weekend’s in the annual clubbing calendar – Sónar Barcelona. Upon arrival in the massive space (think a big warehouse with 2 indoor spaces and 2 outdoor), we checked out the Sónar Car, a large red circular room in the complex where Seth Troxler was playing b2b with Tiga for 6 hours. Over in the Sónar Club Heidi was playing, and earlier Justice had performed a live set. Headlining the festival was Eric Prydz at 4am in the Sónar Club. We’ve been a big fan of Prydz here at Uneek Ibiza and seen him perform on many occasions over the years, from Ibiza, to Creamfields in the UK, and Miami during music Week, but to see him headlining Sónar, one of the biggest and best electronic music festivals in the world, was something special.

4. Hï Ibiza opening party, Ibiza – May 2017
The anticipation in Ibiza (and clubland in general) for Hï Ibiza’s opening was huge. Space was a club that many people loved, and all eyes were focused on how Yann Pissenem and his Ushuaïa team could do its former venue justice. Space was great – rustic, brilliant character and held amazing memories for anybody who ever stepped foot inside the club. Hï Ibiza offers great lights, lasers and sound. The Theatre room is the main room and boasts great visuals on cinematic large screen behind the stage/DJ booth. VIP booths are either side of the dancefloor, but the VIPs feel like they’re a part of the main dancefloor. There was no sitting down in the VIP – everyone on their feet and dancing away pointed directly to the DJ. The Club room offers clubbers another space to get their groove on. Hï Ibiza rocked on opening night. For the rest of the season they had impressive line ups (Eric Prydz’s first ever Ibiza solo residency, Armin Van Buuren and In The Dark to name a few), we are buzzing for this new era on the island.

3. Paul Seven’s Mayday party @ Revolution Aberdeen, May 2017
We had a brilliant day in Aberdeen in May for Paul Seven’s Mayday party at Revolution. The downstairs outside terrace was the scene for one of the best parties we’ve seen in the UK in a long while. Think of Space Ibiza Terrace back in the day (those lucky enough to attend pre circa 2004 before the terrace was covered), a bright sun shining day, great music, atmosphere and crowd and you have a sense of what went down. We witnessed some great sets from Alisdair Randalls, Bobby Cooper, Seven and Barga. Our Everyone Is Uneek room at the top of the venue, where people entered and left the building had a steady stream of clubbers all day, where we enjoyed the top atmosphere and vibe. We’d like to say thanks to all of the DJs that joined us and provided great sets including Dylan Mcphee, James Robertson, Alisdair Randalls and Seven Ibiza.

2. Ushuaïa Ibiza closing party, Ibiza – October 2017
Ibiza’s opening and closing parties are legendary, and some of, if not, the best parties of the entire summer in Ibiza. Mark and myself boarded the Gatwick to Ibiza Saturday night late night service just in time to get to the final couple of hours of Ushuaïa Ibiza’s closing party 2017. Ushuaïa Ibiza is our favourite venue in the world. We’ve been to venues all over Ibiza, the UK, the US and Europe, and yet we still get excited at any trip to Ushuaïa. We love the amazing outdoor vibe, the brilliant production, quality music, air cannons, dancers, excellent DJs, fireworks and planes flying overhead! It seems in 2017 the team have taken the production to the next level, so much for us to say that for their closing party, it was probably THE best production we’ve seen at any club or festival. All in all it was a fantastic ending to another great summer for the club. We stayed until closing at 2am and then headed off into the Playa d’en Bossa night.

- Elrow @ Row 14, Barcelona – June 2017
We’ve been big fans of Elrow’s unique parties since first attending Privilege opening party 5 years back and they hosted the Vista Room. What followed was confetti, inflatables, plenty of colours and crazy costumes. Fast forward 5 years and having been to Elrow many times in Ibiza and the U.K., it is now one of the biggest, busiest and most popular parties in Europe. So we were buzzing for an Elrow event at their home in Barcelona where the event originated to be held when we were in the city for the weekend for this year’s Sónar festival. Mark and myself made our way from our city centre hotel by taxi to Elrow’s Row 14 home near the airport. Although the party started at 9am Sunday morning, we’d only got in from Sónar By Night at 7am, so after a well needed sleep and rest, decided to hit the last few hours of Elrow at around 7pm. En route to the venue, we seen on twitter that Kolsch (one of our favourite DJs) had been unveiled as the special guest DJ, which added to an already brilliant line up including the likes of Darius Syrossian, Eats Everything, Detlef, Patrick Topping, Nic Fanciulli and wAFF among various others! Large! When we arrived we checked out the various rooms (there’s 3), and the party was called Sambodromo do Brazil, a Brazil Samba carnival feel.
Elrow Barcelona in its original home lived up to its reputation and then some. The most bonkers clubbing experience of our lives, and so it takes the accolade as Uneek Ibiza’s gig of the year 2017.
