Sónar Barcelona returned across three days (16, 17 & 18 June) at Fira Montjuïc and two nights (17 & 18 of June) at Fira Gran Via, and featured more than 100 shows and a total of 150 artists across 10 stages. Sónar 2022 brought together more than 122,000 attendees from 122 countries.

The line up included some of the who’s who of electronic music, check out the full line ups for Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night below;

We attended Sónar by Night on the Saturday evening, and first up were headliners The Chemical Brothers. Anticipation was in the air of the sold out crowd, and there was a special feeling (this was many people’s first festival post covid lockdowns and there was a great atmosphere). The Chems kicked things off with classic Block Rockin’ Beats, and it wasn’t long before arguably their biggest ever anthem Hey Boy Hey Girl (Superstar DJs) got an airing – the crowd’s roar for this was one to behold, great scenes, see below!

The Chems themselves matched the crowd’s energy – they were bouncing on stage to each and every track. Their visuals on the cinematic screen were amazing, and constantly changing through the show. Others tracks they played were the likes of Gotta keep on makin’ me high, Star Guitar and Swoon.

This was a special set, with a special crowd, and one of, if not the best festival sets we’ve ever seen. A visual and aural masterpiece.

After The Chems, the biggest dancefloor in the world trembled to the sound of some of the heroes of club music such as Charlotte de Witte, Reinier Zonneveld, Helena Hauff, Anfisa Letyago and more.

One of our favourites is Eric Prydz, the man is a genius, and responsible for some of electronic music’s greatest tracks. His set tonight was brilliant, check out some of the photos below;

We’ve been lucky enough to attend many electronic festivals and Sònar is the only one that drags us back year after year, we love everything about it. The city, the setting, the line ups, the crowd. The best. The 30th anniversary of Sónar Barcelona will be held on the 15th, 16th and 17th June 2023. See you there!
