One of the busiest weekends in the Ibiza clubbing calendar is the massive Ibiza Radio 1 weekend, the first weekend in August. The Radio 1 weekend is legendary in Ibiza as on this one weekend every year the Radio 1 DJs head over to the white isle to host parties.
Parties over the years have been hosted from the Sunset Strip in San Antonio, to secret parties in the hills, to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel.
This year’s three day event will run from Friday 1 August to Sunday 3 August with a line up consisting of the likes of David Guetta, Duke Dumont, Annie Mac, Kiesza, MK, Afrojack, Eric Prydz, Pete Tong, Hot Since 82, Danny Howard, Above & Beyond, Oliver $, Sasha, Steve Angello plus many more.
The legendary weekend will kick off on Friday 1 August with a free party at the Ushuaia Beach Hotel in Playa d’en Bossa with around 7,000 music fans expected to attend. Nick Grimshaw will be providing the official warm up from 6pm on Radio 1, broadcasting live from a beach location to get listeners in the party spirit before the main event gets underway (7pm until 11pm UK time) with DJ sets from some of the leading names in dance music.
On Saturday 2 August, Radio 1 will return to Cream @ Privilege for an exclusive event. The special live extended five-hour Essential Mix will begin at 12 midnight and will feature sets from Steve Angello and Above & Beyond, with Sasha and Pete Tong performing back to back.
A whole host of Radio 1 shows will also be live from the shores of Ibiza across the dance-fuelled weekend – now in its 19th year. Nick Grimshaw will kick off proceedings, broadcasting The Radio 1 Breakfast Show from the White Isle on Friday 1 August.
Live from a secret island location, the special one-off show will bring the sounds of the Balearics back to listeners waking up in the UK and is the perfect warm-up to Radio 1’s free party at Ushuaia taking place in Ibiza later that day.
Danny Howard will host a special Ibiza edition of Radio 1’s Dance Anthems on Saturday 2 August, showcasing the hottest new music from the clubs on the island and MistaJam will take over the airwaves from 7-9pm with a live Ibiza show, simulcast across both Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra. Annie Mac will round off Radio 1 in Ibiza on Sunday 3 August, broadcasting a Sunday evening show from the island.
