The last time we saw Faithless they were ending BBC Radio 1’s 20th Anniversary year in Ibiza on a hot and balmy August night at Ibiza Rocks with their anthem ‘We Come 1′ . Back in Blighty on a cold and windy December evening they were bringing their live 2.0 tour to Manchester Arena.

Faithless 2.0 is a double CD (which went straight to the UK Album Chart number 1) to celebrate their 20th year in the industry. Along with originals of all of the classic tracks on CD 2, CD 1 offers remixes from the likes of Avicii, Tiesto, Flux Pavilion, Above and Beyond, Booka Shade, Claptone, High Contrast, Eric Prydz, Purple Disco Machine and Armin Van Buuren.

Tonight’s massive crowd at the biggest indoor arena in Europe were eagerly anticipating Faithless’ arrival. The crowd didn’t have to wait long to hear anthems such as ‘This Is My Church’, and arguably their biggest track ‘Insomnia’. This was a bouncing hands in the air crowd to the backdrop of lasers, lights and their impressive 2.0 album logo above the stage.

Next came the brilliant trancey laid back tune ‘Five’ and ‘I Want More’, a driving club track. As the gig picked up pace, the tunes, lights and lasers intensified to more rave like until they played ‘Not Going Home’, with its infectiously repeated vocals “it’s not over, I’m not going home till I can take you with me” and large synth melodies.

Tonight’s was a large and loud crowd at Manchester Arena, who were certainly ‘not going home’ until they heard the last track of the night, ‘We Come 1’! It was the track that superbly ended the 20th anniversary year of BBC Radio 1 in Ibiza back in August and again tonight it was a sea of hands and singing to the very end.

After the track, Maxi Jazz, said to the crowd, “peace and love to you all, see you again soon, you’ve been fantastic.” Likewise from Faithless, it was a fantastic performance from one of the best live electronic bands in the world.
