Ferry, you’re playing here later tonight at Creamfields, what can we expect from your set?

It’s going to be very melodic, I’ve been on very trancey vibes again the last 4 or 5 months, so I’m really looking forward to playing here tonight!

Brilliant, you’ve played Creamfields a lot in the past also, what is it about this festival that you love? It’s the vibe, I know everybody probably says that, but it’s in a great place in the country and people come from all corners of the UK to come. It’s a great festival ever since the beginnings, and it’s certainly grew over the years.

You’ve been touring around this summer, what have been the big tracks for you in your sets?

There’s a track that I did recently by Gouryella (Anahera) which in the trance genre and my sets has been pretty massive and there’s a big track by Andrew Bayer called Super Human – this is still a favourite and I’ve been playing it in my sets for a long time. Eric Prydz – Opus is unbelievable, it’s been a mainstay in my sets!

And you’ve been playing in Ibiza this summer, how have your sets at Space been going?

They’ve been good, we moved to the Terrace room from the main room in Space this year, it’s been a bit more intimate, but none the less great fun!

Ibiza in general, you’ve been playing there for many years, could you give the readers of Uneek Ibiza any tips of your best places to visit on the island?

Usually I just come in and go, so I pick my favourite places – my favourite restaurants are Las dos Lunas, Sa Capella, Sa Punta is nice as well in Talamanca. There’s a little grill in Talamanca beach which I really like called El Pulpo – you pick your meat and vegetables from a fridge and grandpa puts it on the grill! It’s just simple seats and tables, but the food is unreal!

We will definitely check those out! What draws you to Ibiza? What’s special about the island?

It’s a good spirited crowd – everybody goes there with the same mentality, the same intensions. There’s always something special about Ibiza, you can enjoy the rowdy club atmosphere but at the same time it can be very sophisticated. I just came back from a 2 week vacation there and you know, if you don’t want to see clubs, you don’t have to see clubs, there is a very different side to Ibiza which is so nice – just hire a car and drive through the countryside to the middle of the island and find some nice restaurants. Formentera is also beautiful. Ibiza in general is a very different place from the other major vacation places in Europe.

You’ve been playing in Ibiza right from when things kicked off with electronic music too, have you seen the island evolve over the years?

Yeah, I’ve seen it evolve. The question for me right now personally is has it evolved into something better or worse? The music has changed to be more commercial, I’m not sure if I dig that, but other people say that is what they like about it.

You’ve had a great career and produced some great tracks and remixes! Do you have any personal favourites?

Remix wise my favourite is the remix I did for William Orbit – Barbers Adagio For Strings, and production wise, that’s a tough question! I like the Gouryella track that I recently did, plus also Rock Your Body Rock for the simple reason that it is a track that has every genre in it, that was real cool for me.

We remember you playing that in Eden at Judgement Sunday years ago around 2004!

Haha yeah, those were crazy times, all good!

What do you have planned for the rest of the year, what do we expect to see from you?

Production wise, I’ve just released the second part of an EP series that I’m doing called Hello World. I’m in the middle of producing the third part so that will be available in November. Touring wise there’s going to be a lot of Asia and USA, along with a few European dates, and touring Australia as well. It will be busy!

Thanks very much for your time Ferry and we hope you rock Creamfields tonight!

I will do my best, thanks, see you later!
