Children of the 80’s was back with a boom as we headed to d’en Bossa for the opening party at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Over the previous 2 seasons we had been treated to the likes of headliners such as Soul 2 Soul, the Vengaboys, Rednex, Barbara Tucker, Alice DJ, 2Unlimited, Haddaway and Jenny Berggren from Ace of Base and many more amazing acts from back in the day.

When we spotted that the headline act for 2017’s opening party was The Village People, the immediate reaction was one of great excitement and nostalgia. I remember sitting down on a Thursday evening in the UK as a kid and witnessing their appearance on Top Of The Pops as they hit the number one spot with their smash hit YMCA. As you can see in the video above, there was confetti, smiling faces, a sax player, great production and a cinematic screen providing videos synced with the tracks being played by Dream3Team DJs.

When the Village People came on stage they were greeted with welcoming cheers and applause. They played a great set, culminating in their big tracks ‘In The Navy’ and ‘YMCA’. Check out the video below;

Confirmed acts for the rest of the summer include Corona, Crystal Waters, Snap!, Soul II Soul, Technotronic, Ultra Naté through to the closing party on Friday 29th September. Head to https://www.childrenofthe80s.com/ for tickets.
