Yesterday we headed to Blackthorn festival in the picturesque English countryside setting of Whitebottom Farm, Etherow Country Park. Only 15 minutes from Stockport and 30 minutes from Manchester City Center, we arrived at the festival driving through some lovely country lanes on the approach.

Upon arrival, we checked out the various 3 stages, starting with the Meadow Stage, where Laura Farrow was playing. At Uneek Ibiza we love the likes of Lucy Rose and Gabrielle Aplin, and Laura Farrow is very much on a similar tip, with a similarly (yet unique) beautiful voice.

Local lads Twisted Wheel were rocking the Paddock Stage. They have fans in Paul Weller and Liam Gallagher, who described them as “a breath of fresh air”, and supported Oasis in 2009.

Another local in attendance was Findlay and her band playing on the Main Stage. Findlay has really gained a name for herself in recent years playing at major festival stages and has supported the likes of Jake Bugg, the Courteeners and Miles Kane. This was somewhat of a home coming gig for the Stockport girl!

Saturday’s headliner was Pete Doherty. Pete arrived to the festival in a mini bus, accompanied by his dog, and his band the Puta Madres. They played a lot of their own material, as well as a lot of Pete’s solo stuff (Choose Your Weapon, Last of the English Roses), and the odd Libertines classic (You’re My Waterloo).

All in all, Blackthorn festival was a great day/evening out, with some brilliant music in a beautiful English countryside setting!
