Cream Ibiza’s line ups for summer in Ibiza 2015 have some of the biggest names in the business playing on a weekly basis including the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Eric Prydz, Sasha and tonight’s opening night headlines, Above & Beyond.
However, when we arrived at Amnesia, it was newcomer to the scene Philip George who was laying down some house music on the Terrace. He played a mixture of classics (Two Can Play That Game, Let There Be House, Flawless and Show Me Love) and newer material (Qubiko – Hate&Luv, Make Me Feel Better and his own new track Afraid To Love – which has definitely got an old school vibe to it), as well as the big track that propelled him to stardom, “Wish You Were Mine”. The crowd loved it, it was one of the best sets we’ve heard in years. For a 21 year old to have the confidence to completely own one of the best clubs in the world just months after quitting 2 part time jobs was impressive stuff.
Over in the main room, best melodic trance trio in the world Above & Beyond were playing some hands in the air emotive music such as More Days On Week (Transfers remix), their own track Peace Of Mind, Mandala, Moack, Counting Down The Days, Marbella, Break Away and their track All Over The World before ending on some classics – Thing Called Love, Sun & Moon and Silence. It was vocal driving trance of the highest order. On our way out of the club we met a guy who had flew 17 hours from Canada to see Above & Beyond play after he missed them when they were recently playing in Toronto, “well worth it and more,” he said. Tonight the best composers of the modern era sent the Cream Ibiza opening party into raptures.
With weekly monster line ups at Amnesia and also Creamfields Ibiza set for August at the Ushuaia complex, it looks set to be a very busy summer for Cream Ibiza! They certainly know how to pull off an opening party with top notch DJs and a crowd to match. Paul Oakenfold recently said Cream crowds have always been the best in the world. He is right, we had a constant smile on our face – it felt beautiful, special and amazing to be in Amnesia tonight, Ibiza 2015 has well and truly started!
