Traditionally the biggest weekend of the Ibiza season, the BBC Radio 1 crew were back in town on the first weekend in August for their now 24th edition of the Ibiza BBC Radio 1 Weekend. Held at various locations around the island in years gone by, this year was mainly based around San Antonio.

On Friday 2nd August, they kicked things off at Ibiza Rocks hotel, live on air for Annie Mac’s show 7-11pm (UK broadcast time). It was their first outing at Ibiza Rocks since celebrating their 20th anniversary at the venue four years back in 2015. Ibiza Rocks has had somewhat of a reboot since then, with the DJ booth now being centre stage, surrounded by on one side a dance floor, and on the other, the pool.

For her show, Annie Mac was bringing along some old and new friends to join her, Ibiza regulars such as Danny Howard and Kolsch, plus the likes of Camelphat and Solardo (whose night Bodyworks on Tuesdays at Hï Ibiza this summer has been massive), Idris Elba and David Guetta b2b Jack Back (Guetta alias – so essentially himself!).

We arrived around 10pm when the party was well and truly rocking, and Paul Woolford on the decks (who we’d seen in the Glow tent just a week previously back in the UK at Kendal Calling).

Afterwards, it was time for Annie Mac to go back to back with Kolsch. Kolsch kicked off their set by dropping Grey, arguably one of the biggest Ibiza tracks of the last few years. Queue massive scenes!

On Saturday, the Radio 1 dance stage took over Ants at Ushuaïa in Playa d’en Bossa.

Back over in San Antonio, Mistajam was hosting his show from Cafe Mambo on the sunset strip to end another successful trip to the white isle for BBC Radio 1. Expect big celebrations next year for their 25th anniversary!
