2 is company 3’s a crowd sprung to mind as I boarded the 20.55pm EasyJet flight out of London Gatwick headed back to the island for the annual BBC Radio 1 weekender and what has become the tipping point of our Ibiza season. As I reflect on this year’s adventures with my Uneek Ibiza lenses in hand I smiled.
With Radio 2 listeners hot on the heels of Radio 1 I can only say that we have been absolutely spoiled this season as Radio 1 & 2 are not only great company but also an amazing fit.
Friday the 3rd of August through Sunday the 6th was crammed full of the most amazing musical artists and acts for BBC Radio 1 Ibiza Weekend 2018.
It’s worth noting that there is a small number of really good value hotels in San Antonio and if you time the flights right Radio 1 weekend can be done on a budget. 4 nights in Hostel Montana in San Antonio with all mod cons (single room ) with a bit of breakie Thurs – Mon was £211. This year San Antonio hosted the live Radio 1 broadcasts from Mambo Friday & Sunday & Ibiza Rocks for Radio 1 extra and I was camped a short walk from both.

It was a shame Eats Everything could not attend and we trust Dan feels better soon and I’m sure we will only be a few steps behind him again as we have been all season and we look forward to seeing him again soon.
The line up across the Radio 1 Weekender was well prepared and executed (see below) and ticked all the boxes.

Our comedy timing was pretty spot on this year. We made it to Pikes Hotel crossing paths with the artists and got involved with a video shoot with Robyn by the pool there who gave an amazing performance down at Mambo on the Radio 1 Stage
Sunday evening is the favourite part of the Radio 1 Weekender with the live broadcast being kicked off and concluded with Annie Mac at the helm. This amazingly chilled piece of Sunday worship by default includes the world famous sunset at cafe Mambo and we absolutely love it.
