We’ve been big fans of Above & Beyond for years here at Uneek Ibiza, loving their beautiful melodic and vocal trance sound. Their radio shows are listened to by millions, whilst their gig list comprises regularly of headlining festivals and stadiums. When we seen they were playing their only Ibiza date of the summer 2018 at Hï Ibiza, our flights to the White Isle were booked.

Arriving at midnight into Ibiza airport (myself from Manchester – it’s great working only 10 minutes away from Manchester airport!) and Mark from Gatwick, a quick change at the airport from work clobber into Ibiza clubbing gear (tshirt, shorts and trainers), we made our way in our hire car to Playa d’en Bossa. After a couple of drinks, we headed into Hï perfectly in time for Above & Beyond’s set.

Above & Beyond have been together for almost two decades, the trio of Jono Grant, Paavo Siljamäki and Tony McGuinness have racked up six acclaimed studio albums and countless dance anthems, toured the globe many times over with their mesmerising live shows, and somehow still found time to grow their influential Anjunabeats record label and develop the groundbreaking Group Therapy radio show. 2018 seen the release of their fourth electronic artist album, ‘Common Ground’, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

To see them tonight at Hï felt really special, they simply don’t play club venues very often anymore, such is their appeal, they are mainly playing stadiums and festivals worldwide. To see them up close and personal in front of a crowd of just a few thousand for me personally was brilliant, and certainly the best night I’ve had in the venue since it has taken over from Space. The energy was electric, the crowd raising their hands in the air for every track, breakdown and drop. After their set finished at 5am we headed back to our hotel in San Antonio with big trance smiles on our faces 🙂
