With just a day or so prior to what was meant to be Spandau Ballet performing at Ibiza Rocks on August 19th, it was announced that the band had to cancel due to drummer John Keeble falling ill. Legendry DJ Fatboy Slim was drafted in as cover, and put on a stellar substitute performance.

Prior to the show Fatboy Slim said: ‘Ibiza Rocks is always a great show to play and those guys are like family to me.  When family are in trouble, you help. I’m looking forward to putting on a great show and endeavour to incorporate some elements of Spandau Ballet in the show. See you at the front.”

Fatboy kicked things with his massive anthem from last summer, Eat Sleep Rave Repeat, followed by the likes of crowd favourites Zombie Nation, I Want Your Body So Let’s Jack, Star 69 and Brazilian track Samba Do Mondo which turned Ibiza Rocks into a sea of yellow and green Brazilian imagery!

Fatboy was clearly loving his set tonight – it was a party set complete with big tunes, air horns, lights and lasers. Towards the end of his set, as promised he incorporated Spandau Ballet into the action. He played their track True which then lead into Put Your Fu*king Hands Up and his anthem Right Here Right Now. He then ended on perhaps his biggest track of all, Praise You, before coming to the front of stage and thanking the crowd, to which they duly returned the favour by praising him!

Fatboy Slim will return to Ibiza Rocks on September 2nd with his Smile High Club concept, with other parties such as Sigma (August 26th), Mark Ronson (September 9th) and the closing party with Courteeners (September 16th) all still yet to rock the island!
