“Ushuaia I came here tonight to put you in a state of trance” says Armin Van Buuren after doing exactly that with a set that includes driving trance accompanied by vocals, breakdowns, build ups, pianos and lots of new material and tracks that get an airing on his weekly ASOT radio shows. Tonight´s ASOT opening party is a trance lover´s paradise.

Supported by warm up sets from Jochen Miller, Omnia and Andrew Rayel, Armin enters the stage amidst a backdrop of fireworks, confetti, lasers, ice cannons, dancers, trapeze artists and a huge cinematic visual display. This isn’t simply a club night – this is a complete visual and aural festival like experience; big production from a venue and promoter that means business. Ushuaia is an open air modern day clubbing heaven – 21st century outdoor clubbing at its absolute finest. Planes here fly in just feet above the crowd, with each plane greeted with a massive cheer to welcome the new arrivals to the island in true Ibiza style.

Armin constantly has his hands in the air during his set, he is having the time of life as he plays his remixes of Fatboy Slim – Eat Sleep Rave Repeat and Idina Menzel – Let It Go, alongside his own tracks Save My Night and In And Out Of Love. He ends on a new edit of his massive chart topper from last summer This Is What It Feels Like, sending the rapturous crowd home with huge smiles on their faces.

Armin has taken his parties all over Ibiza over the years at the likes of Space, Amnesia and Privilege but it seems he may of found his home for the considerable future in Ushuaia, it is the perfect venue for the party. Tonight’s atmosphere and crowd were large; excellent music in an excellent venue with an up for it EDM trance loving party crowd. If this opening party is anything to go by, the season looks extremely strong for ASOT Thursdays at Ushuaia, trancetastic!
